Prepared to Travel

This was another cool, cloudy day.  It felt pretty good after last week of record high temperatures.  We survived the heat wave and have enjoyed temperatures in the low 70s for the past several days.  We have even been running our fireplace heater in the mornings to take the chill off.

We each spent today doing our respective chores in order to have the Everest travel ready for tomorrow.  It never really amounts to too much.  I guess the most time consuming and labor intensive chore is airing up the tires.  However, today they didn’t need any air.  If we’ve been parked for any length of time (and two weeks qualifies), I have to straighten things up in the kitchen cabinets.  I get lazy and just throw things in them without any regard for how well they may travel.  Everything is back in place and good to go now.

I made us a healthy treat today.  It is a variation on the classic rice krispy treats.  Where the recipe calls for 6 cups of rice krispy cereal, I used 3 cups of Uncle Sam cereal, which is loaded in fiber and flaxseed, 1 cup coarsely chopped almonds, 1 cup sunflower seeds, and 1 cup dried cherries.  I used to make this alot several years ago, and got out of the habit.  We have been hiking so much lately, I have grown weary of the store bought snacks and wanted something better.

Tomorrow is a travel day--about 240 miles--about half on interstate.  With no rain and cool weather in the forecast for tomorrow, it should be a great day to be on the road again.
