Settled in Winchester, Virginia

We arrived safely at Candy Hill Campground in Winchester, VA about noon today.  It was a short 100 mile drive north from Waynesboro.  Traffic was heavy, especially tractor-trailer rigs, on I-81.  That’s not surprising since it often is.  Road surface was in good condition and there were no areas of construction.  For this blessing we are always grateful.

The campground here is much nicer than the one we left in Waynesboro.  It should be for twice the price.  I’ll get a few photos to post when the temperature is not so high.  This will be our base of operations for June as we continue with our hiking along the AT.

First things first, however.  We will spend the next 4 days enjoying the company of RVing friends, Tony and Diana.  We last saw them while we were in Port Angeles, Washington.  We have a lot of catching up to do.  At this point we don’t have a plan for our activities, but that will come, probably one day at a time.  We are anxious for their arrival.

That’s about all I know.  More to report tomorrow, I’m sure.
