A Rest Day

Well, we just couldn’t do it—get up and drive 60 miles to the Grand Canyon for the third day in a row.  We were still pretty tired from yesterday and needed a day at home.  Peanut is pretty happy we made that choice.

We had several things to do around the ole home place today anyway.  We are planning to leave Williams tomorrow so Gene wanted to get a few of the moving chores done today.  That way he could take his time and not get those tender and delicate back muscles all in a wad again.  The truck needed to be fueled up and I needed a few things from the grocery.  I also had a hamper full of still damp hiking cloths from yesterday which needed to be run through the laundry.   We got all these chores done in a relaxed sort of way.

It is getting close to the Memorial Day weekend and it occurred to us today that we should probably decide where we will be and get some reservations made.  We spent some time this afternoon with our calendar and maps in hand and figured we could be in Redding, California by the holiday weekend.  We’ll definitely be there now, since our reservations are made.  Our next scheduled “appointment” is the Montana Owner’s Club rally in southern Oregon in early June.  We’ve been back and forth on whether or not to attend that rally, especially since we no longer own a Montana.  The rally coordinator has assured us we will be welcome whether we have a Montana or not.  Of course, they refer to everybody who doesn’t own a Montana as SOBs (Some Other Brand).  Since they are going to call us that anyway, we thought we might make a sign proclaiming our SOBness to attach to our rig during the rally.

It will be a relaxing evening.  Gene is looking forward to pizza for dinner, which we don’t have very often, but is never-the-less one of our favorite meals.  I didn’t sleep very well last night, so I bet it will be early to bed for me.

Tomorrow, Vegas, Baby!
