Ready for the Rally

It has taken all day, but I think we are finally ready.  Laundry is done, groceries are in, tires are aired up, cookies and brownies are made.  Too bad the smell of baking won’t last very long.

The Rally is sponsored by the Affinity Group—those folks who own Camping World (although we’ve heard a rumor that they don’t), Coast to Coast Campgrounds, Trailer Life, Good Sam Club, and the list goes on and on.  We’ll park at Balloon Fiesta Park and the seminars will be held at the Expo Center with shuttles running between both locations.  The Rally actually begins on Friday, but we are going in the early bird group.  This will be our first rally of any kind and we are really looking forward to all the excitement.  We are especially looking forward to seeing some of our friends whom we haven’t seen in a while.

We are registered to be parked in the area with electricity.  Since we do not have a generator, six days is far too long to expect our house batteries to last.  For a $20 charge, they will come around with fresh water and/or the “honey wagon”.

Because the rally schedule is pretty full (we want to attend several of the seminars) and there is entertainment each evening, I felt like I would be more relaxed if I got a few food items prepared in advance.  That is why I spent all afternoon baking brownies and cookies, making spaghetti sauce, and fixing a batch of nuts and bolts.  We can invite friends over for snacks or dinner and I won’t have to do much cooking.

Gene has spent his day buying fuel and propane, helping with the grocery shopping, spotting the carpet, and studying the on-line rally schedule (96 pages).

It has been a full day.  All I want to do now is sit on the sofa for a while.

Tomorrow will be a short drive to Albuquerque (about 90) miles.  We’re not supposed to be at Balloon Fiesta Park until after 1 pm.  We won’t have to get up and rush out of here in the morning.  I’ll be sipping coffee as long as possible.
