Finally, we are on our way to Big Bend National Park. Many would have made the trip of nearly 400 miles in one day, but for us we are not fond of traveling that far in a single day. We left our campground just before noon and came approximately halfway. We are boondocking tonight at a rest area. This is a first time for that. We have stayed at Wal-Marts a few times, but never a rest area. Many states do not allow overnight parking, but Texas does. We do have an alternative campground not far from here if this doesn’t work out.
For us easterners, the scenery along the way today was pretty grim. Some may like this desolate look of rock, sand, and scrub, but I prefer the trees. I have included a few pictures of the scenery along I-10 today.

From where we are parked for tonight we have much the same landscape we had seen all day. There are a few cows grazing on who knows what and just over the ridge is a wind farm.

Wish I hadn't seen this. |
Tomorrow, we turn south and should be at our destination around noon.
